As I mentioned in another thread, I'm completely bored at work and they don't mind if I surf the web. The problem is that most of the sites are firewalled (I can't get any kind of messenger, anything besides news on Yahoo or most of the chat sites). I'm sick of reading the news and I'm trying to be good and not go to the shopping sites too much. I'd love recommendations to interesting blogs or something along those lines. Please help, as I'm about to fall asleep with my mouth open and drool on the keyboard.

Re: Site recommendations
I'm addicted to the Washington Posts politics section.
I'm there like 12 times a day. I also hit msnbc and cnn just to see what's different between the two. Plus NPR.org and slate.com to complete my geekdom.
Of course I also like to surf the drug websites (pro and con) but that might be firewalled from your office, unlike mine.
and lets not forget webmd where I can diagnose my disease of the day.

Re: Site recommendations
Sandy, thank you for that extensive list. It should sustain me for at least this week.
I just remember a blog I used to follow, http://www.pandabearmd.com/- written by an ER resident. He tends to lean heavily to the right, so those of you who are die-hard leftists might want to avoid it. Some of the posts are more entertaining than others but are generally a good read.

Re: Site recommendations
That is a good list, Sandy!
http://postsecret.blogspot.com/
Some food blogs?
http://www.redwinehaiku.blogspot.com/
314) Le Pavillon Du Chateau Beauchene 2004 (France)
It's how you say, 'merde'
Or urine from a berry
Complete waste of time
313) Santa Rita Reserva Cabernet 2005 (Chile)
Didn't taste quite right
Then it did its ju-jitsu
And snapped into place

I don't read these often but went through my favorites. Just for you.
And snapped into place

Re: Site recommendations
I just had to share this blog entry, since it was Vishenka who asked for site recommendations.
Possibly not quite as funny if you don't "get" lol-speak, but...well, just see for yourself. Poking fun at a high-fashion layout in Vogue:

Re: Site recommendations
I was just looking at this:
http://www.hemispheresmagazine.com/3pd/ ... efault.htm
yesterday. I think their reviews can be hit or miss but good for armchair travel.
I love the Geographic Expeditions catalog. It is not quite the same to read online but I still enjoy it.

The second is very cool but we get similar stuff from Barnard/Columbia alumni office and I think their trips are a bit cheaper.
Keep them coming. I so wish people would update their blogs at least daily.
