Anyone else watching the HGTV first time home buyer series with the Denver couple? They just drove by our old house and have shown footage of it a few times. It wasn't one of the houses they looked at but it was kind of weird to watch and think...why does that look so familiar? Oh, because we lived there for 8 years!

Re: What are the odds?
Oi. So after reading this I Google mapped my childhood home. They have Street View in Anchorage, Alaska now! So I was able to "drive" along and look at my old house from all angles. Crazy. Talk about memories -- I think I have an idea of how seeing your house on TV must have felt!Alison

Re: What are the odds?
One of the House Hunters episodes was in our old Bronx neighborhood and they showed our building. One of the buildings the couple was considering has been covered in scaffolding for the entire 3 years we lived there but of course they filmed from the other side. When we heard how much the co-op board wanted for downpayment we were glad we never looked too closely into it.

Re: What are the odds?
That must have been weird to see! DH loves House Hunters (did you know that it's the highest-rated show on HGTV?) and Tivos all the episodes. I'll have to go back and see if I can catch this one!~Jane

Mostly the same. It's a wood trimmed brick bungalow. The brick was the same (unpainted) and the trim colors were the same. The maple we planted was still there but the new owner pulled up the xeriscaping we did and put it grass. I had noticed most of that the last time I was there.

It was a very manicured, rectangular patch of grass. After all the work we did pulling up grass and putting in a curved border. :thud: I think he is just a more manicured guy and the plants we put in had a looser feel. Still, he could have pulled out the plants with height and left the patches of thyme that had grown to 1'x3' and didn't require much water. But he didn't ask me.

I personally dislike grass. So much upkeep for what exactly?
To think he probably pulled everything out and went to Lowe's and rolled out his grass on top of what was left.
