  • Anyone in Rheumatology here?

When DH was IM I remember him talking about that as a fellowship option. I think he liked the hours and procedures. ??

We have a friend from medical school who did his residency in Med-Peds, and went onto National Jewish to do a fellowship in Allergy and Immunology. He is done now and their life is nice- very little call if any, and if memory serves me right, his wife said that the fellowship was good as well.

      Re: Anyone in Rheumatology here?

My DH has 4 brothers, two of whom are also physicians. One is an allergist/rheumatologist, and he just recently sold his practice to go into administration. He had taken over his uncle's all/rheum practice, at a time when allergists/rheums were making a VERY cushy living, and were in high demand. According to my brother-in-law, due to the advances in allergy meds and internists who can prescribe them, the all/rheum specialty is starting to go away. People don't need that specialist as much, as internists can do a lot of the same things. Just a word of caution as your DH decides what to do.

      Good luck!

My DH is finishing up his last year of Rheum fellowship now. It's been nice, much better than medicine residency. Not sure how it compares to Heme/Onc income-wise, but it seems like he'll do ok, and will be home more.
