  • Yay hurricane season!

and her name is "Dolly". why is it always the innocuous sounding names that do the worst damage.

so, Dolly if now forecast for northern Mexico and south Texas. We're not in too much danger because we're 2.5 hours inland from the coast...but- where do you do if you need methadone or mental health services? and you're poor? The answer is "The Center for Health Care Services", San Antonio, TX.

I just called my boss who hasn't been here during hurricane season...she's thrilled.

What it means is basically we courtesy dose anyone who shows up. We'll contact all of the methadone clinics on the coast and ask them for their client information and then just hope we don't get slammed like they did with Katrina and Rita.

(funny aside- the methadone clients we got from New Orleans were apparently a different breed from our basically compliant semi-urban group- one guy apparently yanked out his crack pipe WHILE IN LINE TO GET HIS METHADONE. He just couldn't understand when our doc kicked him out.)

    I'll keep you posted!

It's amazing all the ripple effects that we don't even think about with a hurricane. Sorry you have to do all this extra work! Hopefully all your preparedness will be just a precaution this time.

Jenn we see some of those NO clients in this area too (Shreveport). Fun stuff.

I hope you guys can weather the aftermath!
