  • One day before the election...

I just read that Barack Obama's grandmother passed away today.

His grandparents seemed like they were quite extraordinary people.

It's a shame that she couldn't be here for him to see this through the end....no matter the turnout.

            Absolutely tragic timing.

He must feel like he is functioning underwater. All his senses dulled to everything--the highs, the lows, the stresses. It would be the only way to get through all this. I am sure, no matter how things turn out, he will feel on Wednesday morning like he's been hit by a freight train, as he wakes up and must start processing everything that happened.

I'm sure this was devastating for him. It must have been soon after he received the news, but he accidently slipped - he said he was in Ohio (when he was actually in Florida).

Wow, the timing is truly tragic. He must be devastated. At least post election he can hopefully get out of the spotlight and have some time to mourn.

I'm glad he took the time to visit her last Friday. I'd imagine this would be the most dramatic example of being "too busy right now but I'll get out there when life settles down" thinking. I'm glad he didn't succumb to that. (I am always guilty of putting things off. ) Hawaii had early voting, so at least she got to cast her vote for her grandson.
