Can anybody give me any feedback regarding BAMC? I've heard it's not the greatest place to be. Nonetheless, the important point is that I got one of the preliminary transitional year positions for ophthalmology like I wanted. Anybody have any input?

We're here right now! I think it's great. I have had excellent care in a variety of departments. My husband has no complaints about the peds residency. What have you heard and who have you heard it from? People have some very skewed opinions about military medicine; thankfully, most of which are no longer ture.

PM me with your specific questions and I will try to find out your answers if I don't know them. If you go to http://www.army.mil and look under installations you can check out the BAMC website. (I don't remember what the direct URL is).

My husband did an OB/GYN residency at BAMC and Wilford Hall -- BAMC is a nice facility -- fairly new. It is also in a more central location in San Antonio than Wilford Hall is. I don't know anything at all about the ophthalmology department -- sorry. Congrats on getting the position you wanted.
