  • Trauma Center for the Wii?

Does anyone own this game? Would a surgery resident think it's cool? Or is it unrealistic and silly/waste of time?

    Thanks!

DH (also a urologist! ) played it awhile ago and thought it was interesting for about 5 seconds. It's not something I would buy for him, but that's just my opinion.

If he's the kind of doctor that loves to get annoyed by and/or point out the inaccuracies in ER and the other medical shows, he probably won't enjoy a game like Trauma Center. Those kinds of games are hardly aimed at the professionals.

On the other hand, I recently showed the gf an old-school computer game about abdominal surgery called Life & Death (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_%26_Death), which I used to play when I was a kid and she had quite a good time playing it. Who knew making ridiculous misdiagnoses could be so much fun?

It's not that great...especially for an MD.

Thanks for the replies - that's kinda what I thought too, but I'm just trying to come up with a few fun gifts for xmas. My feeling is why play a video game simulating surgery (and probably not that well) when it's something he does in real life everyday?

We got it last year, and we played it together for a few months, a little bit each week. It's fun, and I like that it's co-operative. Hubs liked it because it was good for working on eye-hand coordination and working quickly under pressure.
But totally nothing like the real thing. For example, there's this miraculous salve that you pour on anything and everything to instantly heal wounds, cure infections, etc. Wish we had that in real life!
