    Re: Help!

If you're considering Europe and Hawaii, I highly recommend checking out Canary Islands. We briefly stopped at two during our recent cruise and can't wait to go back and see more. The islands are also volcanic in origin and offer a lot of the things you'll find in Hawaii - volcanos, black sand beaches, tropical forest, etc. but you'll also get the European feel of the small towns and villages. The Canaries are also cheaper than mainland Europe and it's a vacation that would be super hard to do with little kids - connecting flights, going between islands, European food, etc.

      Re: Help!

Go to Sicily!! We have travelled a lot in Europe and it is our favourite place of all. Amazing food, beautiful scenery, friendly people. Not too touristy but lots of sights. We rented a car and drove around the island. Driving on the little roads can be stressful though.

What time of year is the hypothetical trip? September is the best time to travel in Europe IMO.

If you want good food and scenery and stress free the cruise or all inclusive is probably the way to go.

        Re: Help!

We are probably going to be going in the spring time before residency starts. All the suggestions so far give me a lot to think about! It's also fun hearing where people have traveled before!

I really liked Bellagio on Lake Como. It's a bitch to get to, but totally worth it!
I'd love to go to Rome. Milan is my only big city experience (we flew into Malpensa and took the train to Como). I felt like I constantly had to watch my wallet. It was so stressful. Italians are so relaxed and friendly when they're on vacation. Dh and I went right after I had spent time in Germany doing research. It was like a breath of fresh air.
