  • -51 wind chill

Yes you read that right, it is currently -25 with a windchill of -51. All of the schools are closed, Adele & I are hibernating all day.

It is currently colder here then it is in International Falls, MN - WTF!

It was -1 here with a windchill of -22 .... which would probably seem balmy to you! Thank God for nice, warm homes!

Flynn, I have a new respect for what you go though every winter. I don't know how you do it!

            Brrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

It's 8 degrees here today, -5 or so with the wind chill. It's nice when the weather's like this and you can just hunker down in your house, isn't it? I offered to host playgroup today so everyone can just come to us.

The plan for me was to give the bus 5 minutes, and I decided that if it didn't come within that period of time, I'd just take a cab to work. This is absolutely miserable. Our last winter here....

Oh. It's 60 here and sunny.

No wonder why TX population is increasing. We get lots of snowbirds, too!

                J.

PS- That's Siberia weather! Now you all can understand why I threw my anti-fur stance away and bought myself a seriously warm fur hat! Anyone can borrow her, too. I'll FedEx.

                  Re: -51 wind chill

We have had negative temperatures for the entire week. What's really silly is that the weather reports last night predicted this terrible morning/day. Nearly every school in the state announced school closings by 10pm last night. Only the St. Cloud/Sartell schools held off. (What...like the weather was going to change?) I decided not to set my alarm and that we were playing hooky if it was a school day. Tuesday when I was driving Andrew to school, the snow on my van had frozen. As I was driving, huge chunks were breaking off out of the area where the wheels were. I had some dangerous moments and I was afraid that I was going to have an accident. You could hear the sound of crunching metal as I drove. It worried me.

Our district didn't cancel until 5:30 this morning. The reason? Apparently, school bus drivers usually have other jobs too and the district would have to use more expensive subs if we did a 2 hour late start. THAT trumps safety? Holy Moly! I think our superintendent just likes to be difficult!

Thomas and I have been walking every night this week (Except last night!!!) and the sweat from my forehead literally drips down and freezes in my eyelashes. Yipes. I'm down 10 pounds though! LOL

Brrrrrrrrrr. This winter has been absolutely incredibly gorgeous. I have just loved it....but -51? That's pushing the envelope here.

I seriously don't know how you ladies can deal with that weather. Thankfully today I have sunny 36 degrees Fort Worth, Texas.

BTW Congrats on the 10 pound loss! I'm back on the bandwagon myself and I know it's hard to keep up with something in such cold conditions outside.

Our high today is predicted to be a balmy -5. Yippee Thankfully pretty much the entire state called school for today by early evening yesterday. The windchills for tomorrow morning are predicted to be -40 so I am guessing that they will call it again. Thank goodness our daycare doesn't close on days like this. I can't afford to take the time off!

I am sending all of my love and support to you Minnesotans. Cincinnati is a balmy 8 degrees.

My son still gets pissed when they cancel recess here below 30 degrees. He definitely morphed into our little Golden Gopher during his seven years there.

Those temps are just plain uncalled for. Makes our projected high of 20 degrees seem like swimming weather. Stay warm!!

I'm in FL this week. On the news last night they reported "It will be -17 in Minneapolis tomorrow and a BONE CHILLING 50 DEGREES here tomorrow." Climate wimps.
