    Re: -51 wind chill

I"m so glad I don't live in MN anymore, at the moment. We're at about 7 above currently, and because we lived in MN, I am equipped to dress my kids appropriately, should we need to venture out.

My son still gets pissed when they cancel recess here below 30 degrees. He definitely morphed into our little Golden Gopher during his seven years there.
What is with that? It must be the whole state. When I found out DD wasn't getting outside during school because it was 29, I completely flipped out. She needs to burn off her little three year old energy! No wonder all the pediatricians here push vitamin D supplementation. How about getting these kids outside (not today, obviously)!

This SUCKS. 8 month winters are WAY TOO LONG.

Spring here isn't until at least May but probably June if I'm being honest.

It's so insane that it's so cold out there. Not so, here. It's 80 degrees outside--quite warm for this time of year, even for Southern California. But don't be jealous...chances are I'll be living somewhere in the midwest next year with absolutely no coping skills.http://www.medicalspouse.com/for ... 4&t=20659# (March 19th dependent of course). DH is interviewing at Mayo in a few days...I wonder how much weather will affect his perception of it.

Tonight and tomorrow are the last batch of neurosurgery interviews for this year. Each week they have been here has been "the coldest of the season so far", I told DH it was good this was the last one because I don't think it can get much colder. They've canceled school for tomorrow too. I think its supposed to be really cold in the morning, just not as cold as today.

DS is off of elementary school tomorrow again as well. There was a recording waiting for us at 5:30 when we got home. I'm glad though because daycare walks him to school. It's only 3 blocks, but with a gaggle of kiddos from 4K-5th grade, it can take a while!

We're still in positives but have been steadily approaching 0. It's actually warmer in the new house with the thermostat at 62 than it is in our apt where we keep it at 70 (and have neighbors all around us). I agree that knowing how to dress (and heavily moisturizing) is key for cold climates.

OMG I cannot even begin to comprehend how cold that must be!!! Seriously, I would die either by suicide or the inevitable car crash I would cause. I've been bitching all week how cold I am and it's in the 40's here, which officially makes me a climate puss.

My lack of tolerance for cold weather is going to severly limit our choices in training and beyond.

It's currently more than 10 degrees colder than predicted. We're at -17 right now. A big day of "swimming" in my bathtub, an indoor picnic, and baking lies ahead of me. It's getting really hard to explain to a 3 year old that we can only look out the window at all the snow, and not go play in it. There is ice coating the inside of two of my windows and around my obviously well-insulated fireplace. I wonder if my gas bill will be $400 this month (we were at an all time high of $300 last month)?

We're at -27 today but the wind chill is -42. No school again today AND we have a three day weekend. Hmmmm.
