    Re: March 19th, 2009

I agree!! I love my nerdy husband so much!

It's so weird, I had such a negative day about things on Friday and today I am all smiles and excitement.

Sending good thoughts to all who are dealing with matching-related stress!

Who ever thought up this whole Match system, anyway? Some 19th century sadist? They sure treat the applicants as if they have no lives! I cannot wait for this whole thing to be over!!!!!

My husband's program completed their applicant rank list last night, he said it was very interesting to see the program side for a change.

Good luck to all the applicants those of us that have been there know it sucks!

            Re: March 19th, 2009

Well, my husband got four radiology interviews, and 8 prelims.....we are nervous, but we really have to stay in Boston for my job, which would be very hard to replace. (although once he finishes, I may stay home and eat bon-bons for the rest of my life). I am trying to be hopeful, as he has connections to all of the programs, through school and research work, so we'll just have to wait and see.......

              Re: March 19th, 2009

              The suspense is pretty crazy.
Recently, we discussed the option between dropping out of match (no to anesthesia completely, but staying in CA for family medicine/indefinitely) or staying in match and risking repeating intern year all over again (which would mean not only repeating, but moving out of state: BUT anesthesia would be in the bag).

Against odds, we've decided to stay in the match, even if it means repeating intern year for him.

With the drive to complete my 2 yr program by summer, paired with wedding planning (we're done! wahoo!!) I did get sick and am now battling a brutal oral ulcer outbreak + secondary bacterial infection. They suspect it started with aggravating my gums due to dental work and my TMJ splint.
HOWEVER, I'm also celiac (but I follow a strict diet) and they wanted to rule out B12 deficiency or another form of an autoimmune episode.

As of 2/6/09, I can honestly say that I am no longer stressing about match. *snicker*

Hang in there Robert! Hopefully someday, you WILL eat those damn bon bons from home.

wildfin, hang in there! I hope you feel better!! I think it's great that you both decided to stay in the Match. I can't imagine being in your situation, but I think that everything will work out great!

Robert, I plan on eating bon bons in front of Martha Stewart at least two days a week starting in September. We should have an online bon bon eating and daytime TV watching party after your husband matches in Boston.

wildfin & Mrs. K - we're not getting married until next May, so anything we register for, receive and then don't have space for will go to our storage space aka DM's basement. This is where everything from our engagement party last Saturday went. I mean, what am I going to do with a crystal vase, 8 x 10 Lenox picture frame & 8 x 10 crystal picture frame in an already overflowing 800 sqft apartment?

I hope everyone has a Valentine's Day free from Match stress. :mydoc:

Tomorrow, we've got 30 days, kids.
The countdown begins at this residence (just me, and a sharpie on the calendar) in 24 hours.

The ROL is solidified, but Paul still feels like we might be staying put ("I just think no one's going to take me.") I guess it's a way of not getting his hopes up again.

A pact of shooting one another (?)

DF spent 12 hours STRAIGHT in a webinar today to double check his Step3 skills. And he's got another 12 hours via webinar tomorrow (this is his last golden weekend for a long time, and he's using it for Step3 prep).
I am so proud of him, but he's very frustrated right now:

"I need to run errands and take care of things. I want to work out, get a haircut, go grocery shopping. But if I'm not at the hospital, and I have free time, I'm exhausted, or it's time to wake up and do it all over again."

                              ...Let's hope you're a good shot.
