  • Addicted to reality shows

I can't stop watching reality shows. haha. Have any of you gotten sucked in? Joe Millionaire, Battle of the Sexes (MTV), The Osbournes. I haven't gotten to the point where my social schedule is planned around the shows, but if I'm home and happen to see the show, I'm sucked in. And think of all the other ones out there that I don't watch (or are coming up): American Idol 2, The Bachelorette, Celebrity Mole, Real World, yikes.

The other show I LOVE is 24 and Will and Grace. I will make sure I watch both of these shows or tape them if I'm out.

What are the shows you can't miss?

I had sworn off reality TV from the start, but wouldn't you know I got hooked on Temptation Island and The Bachelor (probably the tackiest two on the air!). My husband and I were thinking of tuning in to Joe Millionaire (we're corny--we discuss it before we decide to watch even the first episode because we know we will get sucked in!), but it ended up being on Monday night which is a good TV night for us. We love:
    Everybody Loves Raymond
    Yes, Dear
    Still Standing
    Hidden Hills (our new favorite!!)
Scrubs (also one of our favorites)

I guess we're a couple of couch potatoes!

I think I"m in the minority on this one- I haven't gotten hooked on reality shows just because I'm usually at school in the evenings. I did, however, watch that special edition of the Bachelor II and found it quite "hookable."

My fav shows? ooh, got quite a few. Of course, "Must See TV" Thurs. night, all three Law & Orders, some Food Network shows.

It's a total guilty pleasure, and my husband is horrified by most of them (but even he will watch "The Osbornes"). My mother and I got into "Anna Nicole" and would call each other the day after to dish about how tacky she was, and I love the new one on Bravo about behind the scenes of Cirque de Soleil, and "The It Factor" about the struggling actors in New York.

And speaking of "Joe Millionaire" did anyone see the photos of the guy that were on http://www.thesmokinggun.com ? He did a little modeling for a male swimwear catalog at one point for some extra $$$, and the shots are REALLY something.

Nope, can't do it. I can't watch the cheesy 'talk' shows either. I end up getting upset and angry at the utter stupidity of these people. Maybe it's the social worker in me- but I really think they are so pathetic that I want to offer them psychiatric support!

OK. I have to report in - I just watched "The Bachelorette." My mom called me to tell me it was on, so I caught the last 1/2 hr. hmmm... don't know if I"ll be watching this one to the end. For some reason, I have a hard time believing that a woman as beautiful as The Bachelorette who is a pediatric physical therapist AND a Miami Heat dancer would have a hard time finding a date. I almost want to say "PUH-LEEZE!" Maybe I should just wait for the one episode "Special Edition" at the end to find out who she picks.

I ended up watching the Bachelorette last night also. I was hoping that some of the guys would start crying after Trista didn't pick them. I don't know...maybe I'm just expecting a lot of drama. My big thing with these shows is that I would never be okay with dating someone and "falling in love" when you have to be okay with them doing the same with another person on the show. It's ridiculous!

With Joe Millionaire...I did see those photos of him. haha. Too funny. I kind of don't see how a show like that would end up with him finding a true love. The entire thing is based on a huge lie. It's like they're setting the women up to be shallow (my bf thinks they have it coming), but I think that not only is it so difficult to be a real person when you're on tv, but also to have everything so focused on his inheritance. They handed out pearl necklaces! The next episode, he gives them emerald necklaces. It's ridiculous. I guess that's what they're going for though! Should be interesting!

I'll "fess up... We have been hooked on every edition of "The Amazing Race" where teams of two race around the world to find clues. The locations and interaction amongst people under stress is soooo interesting. We have even gone to the web site in an attempt to get info about trying out. How is that for a confession about reality tv!

Mike and I are totally addicted to "Trading Spaces". It's probably the only thing we'll actually arrange our schedule around, but since it's on Saturday night and we're usually home anyway, that's not too hard.

I am a sucker for those reality tvs show. Probably not one of my better qualities. I have loved Trading Spaces since maternity leave, tuned into the a few Survivors, American Idol and the last Bachelor series. I also enjoy a couple of the shows on HGTV, Designer's Challenge, House Hunters and Designing for the Sexes. Am I an official junkie?

I happened to catch the last half of the Bachelorette last night. I was hoping to avoid getting hooked on this show. Then I realized that one of the men, Bob the funny guy with curly hair, was the lead singer of a popular band from college and friends of some of my dorm mates. Not tuning in may be hard.

We have missed this craze, for the most part, although we both like Trading Spaces. I have tuned in to the Osbournes, which my husband can't stand, but that's about it. I did watch the finale of The Bachelor II and it made me sad for the girl who didn't get picked.

My recent rule about the tv I watch is that it can't be sad in any way, or anything that will make me scared the next time DH is on call and gone in the middle of the night. Life is sad enough, if you just look around, so if I am going to turn on the tube, I had better be laughing in the first five minutes or I'm turning it off.

Sally, I agree about not watching anything scary! I never watch anything remotely scary when I know my husband will be on call in the next several weeks. I don't even watch the news the nights he is on call because even that freaks me out! I do like to watch sad movies, though--I need a good cry every now and then!

Ok....you got me. My dw and I got hooked on Temptation Island and the whole Big Brother thing(along with "Amazing Race"). Then we find out that a medical school classmate of my wife's was working with "Will" from Big Brother 2 (I think). He was an internal med resident in Miami. Just up and left the program for Hollywood...may not be the best career move....

Okay, I'll admit it. I got sucked into Joe Millionaire last night. Boy am I glad that Heidi gal got the boot. She was so obnoxious not to mention she was totally in it for the money (but then aren't they all?). And she had a boyfriend too - what's up with that? Did you see her eye those sapphire necklaces? She was absolutely green with envy.

I did get into Temptation Island and The Bachelor although I didn't watch the first one. I keep telling DH that eventually they'll have a Temptation Island for married people.

That's funny--my husband and I joked about getting onto Temptation Island as well. I wonder why they discontinued that show???
