  • WHERE DID MY BEST FRIEND GO?

    Hey guys

It being Valentine's Day, I guess I'm feeling a little sad today. MS2 called today and I just felt so disconnected from him. I think he kind of feels the same way. Our lives are so different and so totally separate right now. I feel like we have nothing in common anymore. I guess maybe we are both stressed out - me with finanances and raising the kids alone, him with 3 exams coming up, plus being on that horrible island with no computer (it crashed). I keep praying that we will get through this. I really miss the little things like having him to kiss goodnight and having our coffee together in the morning. Does anyone else feel this way? Hope you all had a great Valentine's Day! :dinner:

I'm definitely missing my DrK tonight. It's Valentines Day. Makes us all nuts. . . but it's 12:31 and V-Day is over so we can go back to being normal people again.

        Hi Rella -
I am feeling it a bit this weekend too. With my husband down in California and my kids either in college or past it, this is my first "alone" Valentines Day. I never thought it was a big deal holiday for me but I think I took the attention for granted. I went to a Valentine's Day "Brunch for Supper and Cupcake Tasting Extravaganza" this evening at a young co-workers house and it was fun but I went home a bit early. Maybe next year we should arrange it better because when he is in rotations/residency we will have little schedule control.

BTDT. Last night I went to dinner with my BFF Rachel (the one who lost her father last month) and we saw "He's Just Not That Into You". . . which she found instructive. It just made me miss DrK. Heck, I've been so schmoopy lately that watching the wedding scene in "Fiddler on the Roof" last night made me tearful.

Then we went out to a deli. It was empty. No one takes their gf to a deli on V-Day. During dinner she was very down and was talking about how "no on is 'into' her," that her mom wants a grandchild, she's never gonna meet anyone, etc. Then, of course, she forgets that for 33 years I was in that jam; Now that I'm married, I don't know anything about being lonely.

Re: WHERE DID MY BEST FRIEND GO?

I also was without DH V-day, but I did similarly to Mrs.K and went out for dinner with my best friend who is single. We made each other our valentine-we got cheesy gifts and reminced about old times. It was lots of fun. I think that the wait staff thought we were lesbians LOL. It was funny. V-day doesn't have to be a couples-only holiday-sheesh! I celebrated with people I loved!

We were about to see "He's just not that into you" but we both saw bad reviews and canned that idea. She went out after dinner, and I was supposed to web cam with DH, but my dad wanted to go to the movies with me. (My mom went away this weekend to visit fam so he and I were both alone).

Its hard being apart, but making each other feel loved is key and knowing how you feel loved. Dh sent me roses, and I sent him a fruit basket and balloon down there. We spoke during the day which was great. We are going to make up the web cam today. I feel bad that we didn't get to web cam, but V-day is only one day out of the year to show someone you love them. There are still 364 days to show your love!

RELLA- I've been where you are. What helped me was to call him out on it and say hey, I feel disconnected and I feel like you feel the same. Lets talk about it and see if we can find a way to fix it. It helped us overcome the distance and also to bring us closer again.

lol that's hilarious abou the fixing the sick relatives thing. You should have told her to give you the other fork so you could jam it in her eye
