  • My contribution to helping the environment...

OK...so we're not doing too hot on the recycling end of things, though we do try.

But...I recently invested in garden lights that are solar....for inside the house.

I know it sounds crazy, but I got the kind where I could put the panel up against the window and have the light shine into the room. You hardly notice they are there during the day and then at night, they illuminate different rooms. My kids no longer have lightbulbs in their rooms...we unscrewed them and they are GONE....no more wasting energy all day long when they forget to turn them off!!!!

So...I have all of the kids rooms, our living room and our kitchen....

I'm considering buying these little mini lights ornamental lights on stakes that look sleek and putting them outside during the summer in vases....and then carrying them in to use as pseudo-candles at the dinner table, etc.

That's a good idea! I NEVER would have thought of that. We have all sorts of unusable land at the new place, I would really like to install some solar panels. I *really* want to put in a windmill, but I sense that wouldn't go over well with our neighbors.

Cool! I've never seen those. Can you post a link?

That sounds like a neat idea. My dad built his house and it’s geothermal. And he just added solar panels to the roof for hot water. I don’t know how well it works though; I haven’t been there in a long time. Anyway, he has solar lights outside that look like little lamps, is that what you use?
