So, this afternoon I pull the car into the garage. Then notice that I've run over the rake and it is wedged under my back tire. So, I get back into the car and back up about an inch so I can dislodge the rake. Put the rake back on the wall (from which it fell). Walk to our back door. Press the automatic garage door button. Look back when I realize that the door has returned to the up position. Figure I accidentally pressed the button again while trying to unlock the door. Press the button again. I do this three times. . . then I realize that the door is bouncing back up because I am shutting it on the back bumper of my car. . . repeatedly.

You have no idea. . . I'm terrible with cars to begin with. I once locked my keys in the car twice within 12 hours. Triple A sent the same driver -- it was the beginning and end of his shift. Also, the weekend of my brother's wedding, I drove into two posts within 24 hours in two different parking lots. Truly, I should not be around vehicles when under pressure. Good thing I telecommute.Wife and #1 Fan of Attending Adult & Geriatric Psychiatrist.

Once I tried to move the van just a foot to get a bike out of the garage and left the driver's side door open while I backed up. I jammed the car door into the door wall and moved the wall about two inches. Fortunately, I was able to find a handy man to shimmy, wedge, and repaint said door for $150 before DH even had the first clue.
I did eventually confess the gaffe to DH a couple weeks later.

MrsK,
Don't beat yourself up! You've had so much going on lately in your life that it's a MIRACLE you went this long. *I* would have probably had a car mishap much sooner: I'm terrible at that sort of thing. *blush*

I've done this, too. Except it was 3 times within a 24 hour period and I had the same locksmith all 3 times. The last time he came out he told me, "Why don't you just give me an extra copy of your key?" Dude, if I had an extra copy, do you think I'd have called AAA 3 times?

I didn't have enough cash to tip the AAA guy the second time since I'd had to pay $14 for him to get into/out of the parking garage where my car was the night before. He said to me, "No problem, honey. I'll see you tomorrow."Wife and #1 Fan of Attending Adult & Geriatric Psychiatrist.
