We love our DVR (through Comcast....don't really love Comcast, but that's another thread....) and I agree with what everyone else has said about it. It would be hard to give up at this point.

DVR is a must in our household. I rarely watch live TV.

Dang it! I just called Comcast and their "special" ended last week, so now it's $15/mo. I should have jumped on it before. I tried so hard to sweet talk Comcast into getting the prior deal...even threatened to switch to Direct TV. No luck. Our old cable company, Time Warner Cable, was pretty good at finding us special deals, but I think Comcast is enjoying their monopoly here in our area.

I'm going to keep my eye out for the next special then jump on it. I've done a lot of online watching at hulu, abc, and fox, but they don't have some of the shows I like, plus you always have to wait until the next day. It would be so nice to see it that same night then fast forward through all the commercials!

I'm one of the few who doesn't watch enough TV to make it worthwhile. My husband likes it but I only ever watch one or two shows (besides Keith Olbermann and that's a different obsession all together) and don't care if there are commercials or not.

Its just too hot to do anything but sleep these days anyway.

We pause all the time to talk to each other--rant about what Jon Stewart is saying or ask where we've seen that character before. It's a whole other activity from watching regular TV.
Ditto, I could never go back. BTW, I also have Comcast and have been on a free DVR promo for quite a while now. I'm also on another promo where I only pay for basic digital cable, but get the premier version with ALL the movie channels. The promos Comcast gives me are typically 6 months long, and when one ends, I drop my service down to the basic package and call a couple days later and ask the rep for the current promo. Some reps see right through my scheme and deny my request, but 9 times out of 10 they'll just put me back on a new promo. This just happened this month. The rep denied my request, so I called back the next day and got someone else who cheerfully added me to the newest promo!

My husband would be so jealous, all he talks about is FIOS. I haven't a clue what it is, but I guess it is amazing!

We have DVR, but I never had it until I got married and moved in.
Now, I see the "beauty" of it, but before that, I just went on Hulu if I wasn't going to be available for a show I really wanted to see

I think it depends on whether or not your shows are accessible elsewhere, and how much you love your TV/freedom to watch when you want.

I get my DVR today!!! I have been waiting since I moved to DC. I AM VERY excited. Right in time for the fall premieres. Yes tv IS MY drug of choice. For what J was paying comcast the past 8 months for simple cable and internet we got them to give us the bundle deal of cable with DVR, internet and phone. I needed a home phone since my cell is not a local number. Did I mention I am very excited. OH and this is my 50th post. They say good things come in threes. I hope its a fantastic day.
