  • ? for our British members!

So, are bridal or wedding registries commonplace? If they are, where should I look? Our friends live in London and their wedding is at Luckley Farm in the Cotswolds. I know they could probably use all kinds of stuff since they had just purchased a flat in London and the entire thing flooded- insurance covered the rebuilding but they just got back in.

Other than Harrods, where does one shop for housewares in London?

I had never heard of registries until I moved to the US, but honestly I have been to very few weddings in the UK. We didn't have one but that is because we didn't want a bunch of stuff to transport overseas!

I'll ask my mother and get back to you later

I've gotten stuff from John Lewis for a friend but I have no idea how popular they are.

        Jenn,
My mum said that they are common these days, and called "gift lists" or "wedding lists".

Here are some department stores or other stores that sell housewares, we don't know London that well so I don't know of any cute one-off places, but these are chains that will have stores in London:

        Argos (low end)
        House of Fraser
        Marks and Spencer
        John Lewis (high end)
        British Home Stores ("BHS")
        Debenhams
        Selfridges (high end)

        Good luck!

          Thanks! That's very helpful.

I'm so bummed that we couldn't go to the wedding, I'd like to get them something really nice as a gift.
