OK - that is the kind of thing that definitely gets people killed. Such a good thing that you confiscated it. If police see something that LOOKS like a weapon they have to treat it like it IS a weapon for their own safety. Realistic toy guns are something that my father (an avid gun collector) never, ever allowed in our home growing up.

Toy guns that look realistic aren't illegal in Texas - BUT the cities around where I'm from in North Texas are starting to make them illegal. Carrolton has already made them illegal and Dallas is moving to do likewise. It's not a second ammendment issue because they aren't freakin' weapons. But, they cause sooooo many problems.

I swear my finger still feels weird but maybe it's all in my head.

It's a lighter- and the flame is at least an inch long so you could definitely hurt someone or burn something unintentionally.

and Suz- CPS is so overwhelmed with actual cases that they'd probably laugh me out the door. We meet with them monthly as it is regarding our mutual clientele.

I wish they'd outlaw the pretend guns here.

I wish they'd outlaw pretend parents everywhere.

Morons. Who gives a kid a lighter, regardless of what it is shaped like??

I don't even let DH have a lighter (long story...)
