Next Monday, I am off to the midwest BY MYSELF 8O for a week of visiting relatives and friends. My husband is taking a week off from work to take care of the kids. Around Christmas, it really hit me hard that I hadn't seen any of my family since July and probably wouldn't see them any time in the forseeable future. DH has been suggesting that I take some time and go home ever since. We are contemplating driving to Nevada this summer to see DH's brother, who just moved there. Neither of us has seen much of that part of the country. However, we can't do that AND take our customary 2 week trip to Indiana, so I am going to try to visit all of my older relatives who aren't likely to make a trip to TX to see us. About three weeks ago, I found out that my sister's husband has left her for someone else. They have been married almost 10 years, no kids. Knowing that she was hurting pushed me over the edge and I made my reservations right away.
So, I am excited, nervous, guilty about "wasting" a week of DH's leave and would appreciate any good thoughts you could send my way -- especially since I may be driving in some wintry weather without my trusty Suburban!
