      Oops! Okay, "How We Met"

We are a real life e-Harmony couple. No joke.
(Los Angeles has 4 million people in it - we both didn't want to waste time, or wade into the shallow waters of the dating gene pool).
We communicated for about 2 months before finally deciding to meet - at the time, the conversations were not romantic or overindulgent, just probing and analytical.
One meeting became two, became three, etc. until we were dating. Then exclusive. Then engaged, married. And here we are

True story: I did not know he was a medical student until we started dating. Also, I had just graduated from undergrad, and did not have the $$ to pay for the membership - I wound up taking the exam, making a profile, and creating an outside e-mail account for people to communicate with me, should they choose.
DH was the first one, and his chance became our future.

DH and I were married when I was 25 and he was 31. He was an MS3 at the time.

We met at a campus bar at UofIL, where we both did our undergrad (and all of our other degrees, I guess) - I was 19, DH was 25, but did his undergrad a bit later in life. My best friend at the time had met DH back near our parents' homes, 3 hours north, over winter break, which had just ended, but had thought he was lying when he said he went to UofI. So, when we bumped into him at the bar, she was shocked that he wasn't full of crap, but apparently also trying to not get stuck talking to him, which I didn't realize. DH will tell you that I stuck around because he had beer.

Pretty much, we started dating then, and continued as we pursued individual goals of undergrad degrees, masters degrees, and DH working in DC for a year after grad school, while I was in IL. It's been a long, crazy road. At the time, I was really annoyed at waiting for him to get his medical career in order before proposing (we had agreed pretty much shortly after we met that we would spend our lives together), but in hindsight, it did give us both freedom to make ourselves more complete before making that commitment.

I got married at 18 the first time and it was over within 2 years. I was forced to grow up early and had been living on my own since I was 16. I had graduated HS early and had already bought a house on my own so I felt ready. In hindsight I think I married for the right reasons but it was to the wrong person.

I met DH online about 8 months after my divorce and we knew very early on that we were soul mates. I married the right person at 22.

My mother, my sister, and I all married right out of HS and were divorced in our 20's. I hope my children learn from our mistakes and make better choices.

Yes, maybe not quite so gut-wrenching, but still an interesting choice for a first date!

I was 22 and hubby was 24 when we got married. We had met on a singles night out with some youth ministry friends.

We met fall of my freshman year/his sophomore year in college through my high school friends who were taking pre-med classes with him. Didn't start dating until following summer, when we were 19 (he turned 20 within a few weeks). Got married almost 6 years later at 25.

We knew that we'd found "the one" almost immediately but wanted to make sure that we were done with college and med school and could support ourselves. I don't care when our hypothetical children would want to get married but would encourage them to finish schooling and be in a position to support their family prior to taking that step.

Most of our friends got married in their mid-20s. At the time we got married, we used to go to 7-8 weddings a year for a couple of years. Also majority of our friends have lived together for a few years prior to getting married or even engaged. I guess in NY once you know you've found the one, it doesn't make sense paying 2 sky-high rents.

                    How we met?

DH and I knew of each other growing up in the same small town but didn't actually meet until we coincidentally sublet rooms in the same house one summer. I was doing an internship and he was taking summer classes in the same city. So, yeah, we were housemates, and started dating a few weeks into the sublease. (note: RISKY). Oh, that was the summer of love. We "knew" right away and were engaged a few months later.

In terms of getting married young, if you are mature and with the person you want to spend your life with then I say go for it. A lifetime isn't near long enough to be with the person you love, might as well start your life together as soon as possible.
