I paid a kid $20 to plow our driveway yesterday when it stopped snowing and now you can't even see it. Don has to be at work at 8am tomorrow and its an hour drive. I guess he will be leaving at 4am.

Luanne, on Friday, people here were talking about this big storm that we were gonna get. I didn't believe them. Luckily Friday was my normal grocery day. We have only a couple grocery stores here in town. I was at Kroger and every lane was open with about 15 carts deep at each one each full. Thank God for Pepe's playhouse. If I had to stand inline with my 2 little ones for 30 minutes I would have gone crazy. I think I bought out their wine section, LOL. Don has already called the oncall guy in to cover his shift so he will not have to go in till Tues. Hopefully we will have evrything plowed by then.
My poor Siberian Husky doesn't even want to go out and play in it and he loves the snow. We took his picture and it is up to his chest already.

We're half snowed in. Our apartment is in the basement of a 3-unit house--we have our own entrance in the alley, and then the "emergency exit" goes up through our neighbors' apartment and out the house's main front door. This morning we looked out the window and saw that the snow has drifted three feet deep in the alleyway, so we can't even get our own door open. Good thing today is a holiday for my office and we went grocery shopping last night!

I grew up near Chicago so snow is nothing new to me, but since I've lived in New York . . . I don't even own a shovel anymore, or boots for that matter. (With a small apartment, we don't keep anything here unless we absolutely need it on a regular basis.) Maybe we can borrow a shovel.

            Everyone else holding up okay?

The snow finally stopped here in DC about midday...we were in all day yesterday and most of today, though I did go out for a walk this afternoon. It took DH 2 hours to get to the hospital this morning -- he's on call tonight. All the trains are only running once and an hour and no busses are around. Life in the city! Hang in there everyone -- this is a nice time to unwind if we all don't go stir crazy!

Holy cow, I grew up in Wauconda! Cool! Small, small world. (Note to everyone else: they're basically adjacent towns.)

The last I heard here was 18 inches. I shoveled the sidewalks today after work, and I am unable to move now!!
