  • PayPal is a CRIMINAL Organization!

OK...I have to vent...most of you know about the whole paypal scandal that I have been going through..ie someone broke into my account over X-Mas, stole $2219.50 from two unsuspecting souls using an online internet banking address, and vanished. I have dealt with Paypal for...two months now and let me just share the bullshit with you guys...

They said that they couldn't start an investigation until they received an affidavit from me signed by a notary....the problem???? For some reason, I never GOT the affidavit. I wasn't allowed to access it via the web...it had to be emailed to me So....repeatedly I called while these people told me "I'm emailing it to you right now as we speak". Did I get it? NO. They tried my hotmail three times, my yahoo...amazingly, it never arrived. They suggested I had some kind of a firewall, blah, blah, blah....and I finally told them to fax it to me at Thomas' work. Amazingly they faxed it, but it never arrived. Imagine that. So...I told them to mail it to me snailmail...they sent it not once, but TWICE...did I receive it??? Well....of course not. I finally called and spoke with a woman and told her that I had spoken with our local police and had filed a report...amazinly, I received the affidavit in my email the same day....hmmmm....imagine that.

So...I filled out the affidavit and signed it in front of the notary and mailed it back. I wasn't able to send it out return-receipt because it is of course a PO BOX!!!!! It's been a couple of weeks and so I tried to access my account today. They want me to sign a new agreement:

OUR LIABILITY, AND THE LIABILITY OF OUR PARENT, SUBSIDIARIES, EMPLOYEES AND SUPPLIERS, TO YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTIES IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT OF FEES YOU PAY TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE ACTION GIVING RISE TO THE LIABILITY, AND (B) $100.
I'm laughing my butt of...no flippin' way! I called them and they told me "We never received your affidavit"!

    Hmmmm...Imagine that!

    Bastards!

      Oh Kris,
I am so sorry. I have enough problems with my checking account, much less anything on line. Last week I bounced 3 checks . The bank fee on my end was $30 per check, two of the checks were for less than $30. I haven't received the fee from the companies I actually bounced the checks too. Imagine if their fee is also $30? I will have paid a $60 penalty for a check less than $30!!
I'm sorry you have to go through all of this.

That is crazy! Paypal seems to be such a widely used service that I never would have even questioned it. I guess they are hoping if they make you jump through enough hoops, you will eventually give up.

                  Wow...that is a lot of s**t.
Don't give up or give in! We are all rooting for you to "win" this pissing match. That is a load... I have dealt with several credit card companies over fraud activity and that doesn't even compare to what you are dealing with.
I am "sending" you many cool-headed vibes to deal with this and prevail!!

This is an unbelievable story. Weren't they bought by ebay awhile back?
How could a supposedly reputable company operate like that?

Keep the faith! We're rooting for you!

Oh my goodness!!! I hope you fight them all the way Kris. I can't believe the torture and trouble they are putting you through.

You are making me think about cancelling my acct.- we have for when we buy stuff off of Ebay. Hmmm maybe we won't be doing that anymore.

Someone asked if Ebay bought Paypal, it is my understanding that is true.

                        Kris-
I just logged onto Paypal, to check my acct. we don't use it that often, so you scared me!

Anywho, very interesting (and supicious) that all members have to sign this "new" agreement. They must have problems with fraudulent activity and don't want to help their customers rectify the situation.

"2.6 Limit of Liability. IN NO EVENT SHALL WE, OUR PARENT, SUBSIDIARIES, EMPLOYEES OR OUR SUPPLIERS BE LIABLE FOR LOST PROFITS OR ANY SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH OUR WEB SITE, OUR SERVICE, OR THIS AGREEMENT (HOWEVER ARISING, INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE).

Some states do not allow the exclusion of limitation of incidental or consequential damages so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. "

That is just plain crap- essentially they don't want to help their customers. Well if that is the case, then they have lost this customer.

I'm boycotting Paypal to support Kris!

This is unbelievable. How do they stay in business if they do that?! I've never used the service, but thanks to this I'll avoid it like the plague and warn as many people as I can.

                              Paypal

I'm in the process of filing several diff. complaints right now and one of them is with the Better Business Bureau.....In a way, I'm relieved to know that I'm not alone (from reading the website against paypal). On the other hand, most of the stories of other people result in them losing 8O I didn't realize that paypal isn't FDIC insured and that these things had happened to so many people. It's really frightening. I thought that they were a reputable business!

In any case, I've set things up so that they can not access my checking account. Thomas went and mailed out a second affidavit and when he was sending it out return-receipt, he found a receipt in his wallet from when he'd send out the first one...registered mail...in January...We'd forgotten that we'd mailed it that way...now the post office is investigating it. thank goodness.

I need to talk to the police here again...guess I'll have to let the dog out for awhile to get someone to come over Just kidding.
