  • Went to a wedding...with Frat guys??

I just needed to blow off some steam today.
This weekend we went to Tulsa, OK, our old living area for a wedding. I thought that it would be good for us as as family to go a spend a nice weekend away. DW had the weekend off so we made reservations for the Hilton near where we used to live so that we could eat at some of the favorite restaurants. Planning on a nice relaxing stay. WRONG!
When we got there they were having some kind of convention for the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternities in that region. There where frat guys running all over the place. We had a terrible nights rest, wasn't sleep that is for sure! At midnight they started to make lots of noise in the halls, when the bars closed around 2:30am, there was more noise. I called the front desk, who sounded like a young college girl, and they seemed less than energetic about helping. At 5am, some guy starts knocking on the door next us ( we shared a wall). He was saying things into the door, and just kept knocking. I got fed up and started to open my door, then he just bangs the door with both hands as hard as he could! I threw open the door and took off after him...then I realized I was chasing someone in my boxers through the halls. So, I called the front desk again, this time it was like a police report....what did he look like, what was he wearing, was he tall...I was pissed!
That is not all. We went out to eat breakfast the next morning and got back and began to clean up for the wedding. There was no hot water, at 9:45am! I called the front desk AGAIN, and told them about it. The guy then proceeds to tell me that I need to turn the knob all the way to the left to get hot water!! Thanks for the updated Einstein, I can't read the damn water handle?!
I was so furious I spent about 30 minutes letting them know how this was the worst place that I had ever tried to lay my head, when we were checking out. So, they try to compensate me, with a coupon for a free night there....as long as I pay for another night at full price, at that same hotel.
    I was very unhappy.
I understand that college guys are sometimes crazy, I was one. But come on, they are in college, not junior high and that is the type of behavior that they were displaying this weekend. As for the hotel...they will not see me or my family as customers again.

Thanks for letting me go on and on....

Please forgive me for chuckling at your expense That must have been one rowdy frat party to have you running through the halls in your boxers. I'm so sorry that you guys had such a LOUSY weekend.

There was a day when those things didn't really bother me as much....back when I was MUCH younger....amazing now how irritated I get by loud teen-agers, obnoxious college students, etc......I guess it's how we know we've matured, eh?

I think that you should write a letter of complaint to the hotel chain documenting everything that happened. Your letter to the editor was dead-on....this ought to be even better. That is really a horrible story!!!!

There's no worse feeling than lying awake in a hotel bed while drunk cretins are yelling in the hallways.
But the fact is that the hotel made alot more money off the drunk yahoos than off of you guys, and they'll continue to accept mass reservations from frat boys even after your complaint. And other people will continue to stay there if the price is right.

We were just on vacation in Florida and had the same experience a couple of the nights. Well maybe not quite as bad. And I wasn't dashing down the hall in my underwear heheheh.

I hated drunk college guys when I was in college- which is how I obtained the nickname "Rooster"- because when my room-mates would get home at 2am and turn up the music at volume 11 (Spinal tap reference for those of you who are my age!) I would get out of bed and go yell at them- with my hair spiked in the middle, much like a rooster- and since it's red hair...all that much funnier. Finally I realized that they were doing it on purpose! But the name stuck and I continue to get birthday cards addressed to "January Rooster". (The January part came from my room-mate and I going to "Eat the Worm Night" and her no longer being able to remember the correct pronounciation of Jennifer and it morphed into January!)
