I am mentally preparing for weeks of 100+ hours (based on DH's observations on aways) but at the two programs he's been at the residents usually get either a weekend off or two separate days off a month. You poor poor thing! If I lived closer I would come babysit to give you some time off! You seriously deserve a vacation! Any chance fellowship will be close to family or friends? How long is your DH's fellowship?
Thanks! Do prepare for those 100 hr weeks. He has had long hours all along - when my youngest was born at 6:44 he was at his hospital by 1pm to work and be on call that night. I think there are a few things at play right now - he is one of the Chiefs and doing his trauma rotation. That is what he LOVES to do and he also wanted high praise/recommendations from the trauma attendings for fellowship. He is one of those that gives it his all and I think he is the first one there, last one to leave. He was at work at 4:30 this morning.

I just found out his top program choice on the ROL did tell him that he would be on call every other weekend, but have every other weekend OFF! So coming from not having a day off in 3 months, that kind of sounds like cake right about now! All the fellowships are hours away from everyone we know but it's only 2 years. I'm thinking of looking into a local teenage mother's helper if I need it a few afternoons a week. I'm definitely not expecting it to be easy, but it would be nice to have a few days with him in a month.

What kind of neurology fellowship is she considering? I think we have a few people who have walked the fellowship road in neurology.
