  • Reimbursement for Visa/MC int'l fees

I remember we discussed this about a year or even longer ago, that due to a class action suit Visa/MC was required to reimburse some of the fees they charged for international transactions during a given period of time. I filled out my stuff online but never heard anything back. Has anyone actually gotten a check? I completely forgot about this until it was brought up in another thread.

I was just wondering about that! I would have been due back like $300. I think they were processing claims in the order that they were filed. I don't know- maybe we can find something if we google.

The issuance of refund checks for valid timely claims will not commence until after the Court enters an order granting final approval of the settlement, any potential appeals are resolved, and the Settlement Administrator has validated the claims. At this time, the Court has not yet issued a final approval order. A notice will be posted to this website once the Court issues an order.

Something tells me that the claims will be conveniently "misplaced" by the time the court reaches any sort of solution. That can take years and it already has been about 1.5 since the deadline. Oh, well, at least it's not only my check that's missing.

Julia, thanks for looking it up. You're our own iMSN gov't encyclopedia.

Thanks (I think). I bet they'll probably get the claims distributed eventually, but that they will be small and will take a long time.

I heard something about this last week. I'll have to ask again but I thought there was some issue about how the claims would be paid -- directly by the credit cards or by another means...I don't know. I'll check.

We've also moved since filling out those forms and our mail forwarding expires this spring. What are the chances of them sending these reimbursements out prior to that or updating people's contact info?

I asked my friend. I misunderstood -- he has received his $50 and said his FIL got his payment as well. He said he thought there was a payment issue between the lawyers and Visa/MC. *shrug* I thought we had filed a claim as well but have also since moved. I'll check the link.
