  • Pumpkin Carving!

Anyone want to share pics of the pumpkins they carve?

I haven't done ours yet...it's usually some basic design or pattern I copy.

I was looking at extremepumpkins.com though and there are some good ones.

I had to share this one:

I guess this one's story is funny to me because Russ is in Ophtho:

I met a cute girl at a bar once. I asked what she did for a living and she said that she paints glass eyes. I guess there is a company nearby that makes prosthetics. She paints the many layers of the eye to replace one that has been lost. I thought it sounded interesting.

She said that it was awful. Every person she deals with has just lost their eye and she needs to stare at their one good eye to paint its replacement.

That pretty much ended the conversation. For all I know the girl could have been a librarian and she was just telling me this story to get rid of me. It worked.

Wow - haha those are great! We'll probably do ours next weekend, so it'll be awhile. Neither of us claim to be artists... These are ours from last year. It was our first time carving pumpkins since we were kids. This year, we'll probably look for patterns to make them a little more exciting.

All these pumpkins look awesome! Brandi you're on a roll!

I haven't carved a pumpkin in a while. How long do they usually last after they are carved?

The guy from extremepumpkins says only about 3-5 days...and to keep it looking the best spray it all over including inside under the stem with Clorox CleanUp (with bleach).

We did ours for this year tonight. Mine's on the left, and DH's is on the right.
