    A DITY move is a "Do IT Yourself" move. As with everything in the military, it's an acronym.

    We may ship a bunch of books UPS early. They're already boxed up and I'm tired of looking at them. Maybe I'll torment my mother with them instead!

      Thu Van, I'm so happy to hear that method worked for you!! A friend's dad used to work for a moving company based in Seattle and she thinks she can help us get a deal but I still think we would pay at least $3K. Yikes! That thought makes my heart skip a few beats. Good to know too how much you had to pay the movers. I was thinking in the $150 to $300 range on each side of the move.
      At least the moving expenses can be used as tax deductions. But, as we found out this year, those expenses have to above a certain amount of income.
