stocking stuffers

I love the idea of the dollar bills...I have a six-year-old who will love that! We don't wrap Santa gifts either, but I also love the idea of leaving Santa a roll of paper! I don't have anything new to add for the stocking...Target has a section of small things in the $5 range...laser level, small iPod speakers, etc...we do the same, toiletries, candy, games...

My mom use to get us $2 bills from Santa, she told us they were made in the North Pole, that is where i got the idea to stuff the stocking. I thought they were the greatest thing ever!!

Oh, my childhood!!

Let's see: clementines (the little oranges), one maple sugar candy man (still a decadent treat), purse-sized lotions or hand-sanitizer gels with holiday scents, keychains, little envelopes with gift certificates to Blockbuster, or the movie theater, chapstick (love me some Burt's Bees), holiday mints, once or twice a much-desired DVD, and last christmas, my special snowflake ring with little diamonds in it (thanks, Santa!).

My parents went to great lengths for Santa --
We had magical Reindeer feed that was placed on the lawn, we baked Santa some cookies every year, and our gifts from Santa were also unwrapped with that "wow" factor previously mentioned in this thread.
Every year, the reindeer feed would be gone (!), some of the cookies eaten (WITH A THANK YOU FROM SANTA NOTE), and one year, when my sister was particularly adamant that Santa wasn't real... There were ashen boot prints from the chimney, leading to the Xmas tree, and back to the chimney. My mom got it on video, and my sister recanted her disbelief and continued to believe for many years after that.

Do you all plan on carrying on these stocking traditions with your own kids?

My mom got us all stockings at Pottery Barn with our names monogrammed on them. The first letter on my poor husband's stocking is messed up, so I have to take it back after Christmas (insert long, ridiculous discussion about what to do) to have redone.

Lotto tickets? Like the scratch-off kind?

I love this idea as a stocking stuffer...never would have thought of it! My family loves to gamble and they are very lucky...My sister won 1000 off of a scratch off not too long ago. Maybe I can say that since it's a present from me, if they win then I should get a cut...hehe
