I used to love my ILs up until the family dynamics changed. Funny how a couple of deaths and some births will change those who thought were normal into like-sucking individuals. Truth be told, my issue is not with MIL - it is with FIL who acts worse than a passive-aggressive old bitty. Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

I love my future in-laws. They seriously are amazing. Even more amazing: my family loves his family (and vice-versa) and spend holidays together.
That being said, I'm sure there is plenty of time for things to change...
ETA: I feel bad. Some seriously bad stuff would have to happen for her to even make the list as "mediocre" MIL. This is a woman who told me I could call her "mom" as soon as we got engaged, offered to pay for half our wedding and hasn't butted in once, and made sure I had a stocking on her family's mantel this Christmas.Last edited by SoonerTexan; 01-20-2010, 12:12 AM.Married to a newly minted Pediatric Rad, momma to a sweet girl and a bunch of (mostly) cute boy monsters.

I also have no problem with the inlaws. It helped that it was a second marriage and I was older.Luanne

I would term mine as "militantly laid back". As in, "oh, we're so laid back as a family, we just hang out."
Translation: we just sit around and do NOTHING but if you don't want to do that with us 24/7 with 14 adults in 1200 square feet every holiday, you're anti-social.
You would have thought I committed sacriledge when I insisted that I still needed to do a marathon training run the day after Xmas. And I paid dearly for that 2 hour break as I was forced to sit on the floor for the next 8 hours since I missed getting seating while I was out for my run.Married to a Urology Attending! (that is an understated exclamation point)
Mama to C (Jan 2012), D (Nov 2013), and R (April 2016). Consulting and homeschooling are my day jobs.
