I'm going to miss it again this year. I'm just afraid to get that far away right now. Next year, though!

There's nothing stopping you from partying it up in Oklahoma, Laurie! I make a King Cake every year!

Can you tell me what a Soupe de Fruit is? In Strasbourg, dh and I went to a restaurant and I had the nerve to ask the waitress what it was ... in German.

          Never did find out.

I think it means "fruit soup." After googling it and calling my mom, it was confirmed. It's usually a cold soup with varying consistencies (from syrupy to smoothy like). I've never had it. Mom says the French like to add wine or champagne to their fruit as well.

I'm hoping to find some people to go to this weekend's parade with. Russ is working (grrr...) and I won't be able to stake a spot out by myself. You usually have to claim your spot at 7am and the parade rolls around 4pm...not ideal with two kids...most people park a car to hold the spot and come back around 1pm to tailgate. And they close the roads at 3....

I'm also planning to make another King Cake this year. Last year's was pretty good. We will be in Dallas next weekend so we're gonna miss out on the other parade. Mardi Gras parades are DEFINITELY something I will miss about Shreveport.
