They are so careful, that it was totally shocking.

I'm so sorry! A mutual friend yesterday told me another group of people we know from OU were chasing and totaled their car. I don't know if it was a tornado or accident, but they are okayMarried to a newly minted Pediatric Rad, momma to a sweet girl and a bunch of (mostly) cute boy monsters.

I'm sorry for your loss, Brandi. People like your friends make such an impact and difference in both the science and early warning times - I'm thankful for them.

I'm so sorry. What a horrible twist of fate. They have probably saved so many lives with their research. I heard very nice things about them from the newscaster this morning on MSNBC.Angie

So...how worried should I be about the severe weather forecast for tomorrow? I know the rain is going to be a HUGE problem because of the rain we got from Andrea last Friday and the rain we got on Monday. And the storms will be intense.
Some weather person-type has been telling people that there could be derechos tomorrow. I know they can't predict those anymore than they can predict tornadoes. But the memory of last summer's devastating derecho is sending people into a tizzy here. Just need to know if I should be prepared to scream at my co-worker/husband/family to seek shelter below ground.Event coordinator, wife and therapist to a peds attending

Potentially
http://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/outlook/day2otlk.html
I cant remember which part of Jersey you are in, though.
ADDITIONAL STORMS WILL LIKELY DEVELOP ALONG THIS CONVERGENCE ZONE OR AS COLD FRONT OVERTAKES THE DESTABILIZING WARM SECTOR. DEEP LAYER WIND PROFILES WILL BE LARGELY UNIDIRECTIONAL WITH SWLY FLOW IN THE SFC-3 KM LAYER SOUTH OF SFC LOW. THE 0-6 KM VERTICAL SHEAR OF 30-40 KT WILL SUPPORT POTENTIAL FOR A FEW SUPERCELLS ESPECIALLY WITHIN 2-3 HOURS OF INITIATION. HOWEVER...TENDENCY MAY BE FOR SOME OF THIS ACTIVITY TO EVOLVE INTO LINE SEGMENTS WITH LEWP/BOW STRUCTURES. WIDESPREAD DAMAGING WIND AND LARGE HAIL ARE EXPECTED TO BE THE MAIN THREATS...THOUGH A FEW TORNADOES CANNOT BE RULED OUT.Married to a newly minted Pediatric Rad, momma to a sweet girl and a bunch of (mostly) cute boy monsters.
