Anyone getting one? Anyone played with one?

Played with one while DF was in the store getting his Macbook Pro fixed a few days ago. Not impressed--I didn't know what to do with it. Browsing the internet was awkward because your fingers can reach all of the keypad easily. My iPod touch does the same stuff...

Russ mentioned getting me one for Mother's Day. I have an iPhone...and it does look like it has a lot of the same features. I figure there will be more apps that come out later that will improve functionality, but one of the features I'm excited about is the Netflix app and being able to stream movies instantly. I also have been using my iPhone as an ereader and the larger screen would be nice. I wish I could use my iPhone to tether so I don't have to wait for the 3G model....but AT&T wants to continue sucking it up by not offering tethering.

If I get one, I hope I could get it before May 1st...since I'm driving to Florida on May 2nd and it would be great to take with me.

I think this is where we are too. I think we may wait for several generations though!!!! Probably when DH finishes residency, we can get his and hers. I'm not sharing an iPad. Nice idea, but not practical.

DH wants one for his birthday. Main reason is because the hospital firewalls many websites (such as Netflix) and he's bored when on call or on slow days. I'm not a big touchpad fan, have trouble using his iPhone, so no iPad for me.

this, exactly. Or I'll wait for the iPad competitors - like an android-based tablet or something that acted slightly more like an actual computer would make me very happy.

Rapunzel, so you have an iPhone as well? Does the ipad do stuff the phone doesn't? What are you enjoying most about the ipad?

Cool! I'm excited. What is this wifi hotspot device you have? Maybe I could get that instead of waiting until the end of the month for the 3G model.... and saving a little bit of $$

I wish ATT would just enable tethering for goodness sake!!

I just googled portable wifi and found the Verizon MiFi. It is 59.99/mo for 5G of data. With the 3G iPad, the ATT unlimited data plan is $30. Of course you can argue the differences between ATT and Verizon....
