  • Embarassing Nicknames

I know you all have those cutsie nicknames for your SO's...time to spill!

DH is "Duck", "Duck beak", "Quacks", "Q", or "Beak"

Back when we just started dating, I came across this "send a duck-gram" thing on the internet...my dad was all "Why don't you send one to Chris", so I did. It said something about being my baby duck...and it stuck.

DH said that a duck is far too utilitarian for me...so I am "Swan", "Swan beak", or "Beak"

I guess it's no worse than my friend's parents who call each other "dear"...

Um...my honey calls me "BINCS" for Bull in a China Shop. I have also been referred to as "The best witch of our time" in deference to Harry Potter when viewed in a good light....in a bad light, I'm not so sure.
In my dreams I run with the Kenyans.

Hey everyone! For some reason I started calling TJ "Bear" and it stuck - for his sake I try not to do it in public!

Hussey, which is convenient since it's his last name.

He calls me Hussey, too which also works well, since it's my last name now.

We're boring. We've called each other "Sweetie" since high school.

Ladybug and Bedbug. Can't remember how that started exactly. We only use it in notes to each other, though - although I do get "Hey Ladybug" now and then. He usually just gets Babe. I greeted a nurse once on the phone with Hey Baby when she was calling my back on his phone to tell me that he would be late. (He was scrubbed.)

I call him "hey" and he calls me "what". Just kidding, but not too far from the truth!

I occasionally call him "my honeybuns" and he occasionally calls me "darling." Pretty boring. I am known as "the hammer" in my family due to my propensity to continually remind family members about certain thinks and my knack for getting ahead of myself.

                      LOL. Too Funny!

I call him Schatz. He calls me his bumble bee. Zoe calls everyone a "poopamaboopin" when she is mad at them.

This is pretty good read, I needed it tonight.

DF calls me "shortcake". I am short and right when we first started dating, I was a (drunk) Strawberry Shortcake for Halloween. I call DF "buttons", as in he is cute as a button, pushes my buttons, etc. I have a tendency to also call him "fluffyhead" since if he doesn't get a hair cut every 3 weeks, he starts to get pretty fro-y on the top of his head.

                          "Hideous, Heinous Bitch."

It's a joke. No one really calls me that (at least, not to my face!). It started years ago, when an attorney (who had a substance abuse problem) screamed that at me. In my defense, one of the other attorneys responded, without a hint of irony: "Hey! She may be a lot of things, but she's not hideous!" (He meant it as much more of a defense that it ending up sounding.)

But I'll never forget the alliteration and sound of it in the air. It rang in everyone's ears.

So, my old attorney-friends from back then will occasionally razz me, "Hey, you're one unhideous bitch" and make jokes like that.

I really would have rather had a stupid, vapid nickname, like "Cookie," or "Baby," or even "Bitsy."

DH will call me Jane, b/c his parents called me Jane for years (even after we were married), not realizing it wasn't my name.
