We use monkey a lot in kind of ridiculous ways. I have NO idea how that got started, but it has stuck.

My DH is Korean-American, and his name has an L in it. One of his nicknames from me stems from repeating his first name twice (monosyllabic) and inflecting an R sound in place of the L. (Conglish accent is what he calls it).

My dad wins, though. He calls me Campfire Squirrel. No idea where that came from, really.

Other than that, babe and baby are exchanged a lot. Unless he mifs me, and then I switch over to calling him a poopface.

Moxie gets all the good nicknames around here. She's Mox, the Moxter, Moxola.. . .We just call each other "Love." We call the baby "Love" sometimes too so it's getting confusing. Oh, and we call each other DrK and MrsK. That originated on our honeymoon. I paniced and looked around for MIL when someone called me by my married name.

For years DH referred to me (privately, thank god) as "poop." Cannot recall how it started. It cracked him up and I hated it. Worst was that he had it entered in as his shortcut for my email address, so it would appear before my email address after the "To:" when he sent out group emails. I always wondered if anyone noticed it.

We started calling the baby Magoo when she was in my belly, before we knew the sex. After she was born we got in the habit of calling her Pookie (now shortened to Pook). So now she goes by Pook Magoo. Magoo has become our family name and whatever trait you're exhbiting at the time becomes your first name... as in "Sexy Magoo", "Stupid Magoo," etc. Everyone's a Magoo. Makes no sense whatsoever.

This is very similar to what we do with monkey.

my name unfortunately rhymes with Peeah. I give anyone who dares say my name rhymed with that the look of death. I call J munky, (yes, spelled that way because pronounced that way) and he hates it. otherwise, I really just call him J. It throws people off sometimes because they think I am calling him Jay and not the right name. I have a bad habit of shortening everyone's name. I love nicknames though. I have a billion.

                Funny nickname story:
When I was a kid I went to space camp. I got a name tag and on the back it had your cabin number and team. When a counselor asked me what team I was on I flipped it over and read it quickly upside down. I replied Alien Signal! Well, it was Allied Signal. For the next three years whenever the counselor saw me he would call me Alien Signal and add woo woo alien sound effects too it. Sometimes he would get the campers to join him. Luckily I thought it was hilarious and wasn't beyond embarrassed.
