No joke. My mother is the worst! It is shameful. I was chasing literally 10 min from the house, sirens going, and I told my mom that she needed to go to the basement, because it could be a multiple vortex tornado. It is like 10pm at night, and she is proceeding to tell me " Well I am outside looking at the sky and I don't see anything?" My jaw dropped, first it is 10pm, if you can see the tornado then your dead anyways LOL, and secondly I have radar and some knowledge about tornadoes and she thinks that she is going to watch the sky. We get in the the biggest fights about this.
Ugh...like when I told DF not to go on a bike ride because it was supposed to get bad (see other post) and he replied "it looks fine outside"--It's freakin' Oklahoma, he knows the weather changes every 5 minutes. Even when we were out chasing we ended up on top of a hook echo with a brief spin up a 1/4 mile away, and we had every instrument/website/radar known to man at our disposal!

Laurie--I know what you mean about Dallas storm coverage. It is shameful! Oklahoma may be behind in so many ways, but it is lightyears ahead of the rest of the nation when it comes to severe weather!
Married to a newly minted Pediatric Rad, momma to a sweet girl and a bunch of (mostly) cute boy monsters.

I'm OK. There was one really loud thunder that set off a car alarm, but that was about it. Am I just really difficult to impress? Should I freak out more? Should I consider buying a NOAA radio? So far the only thing that surprises me is the frequency of these storms.

That thunder was kind of nutty.

No - these aren't the big storms that people talk about. It's a lot of rain, but this isn't the "severe weather". I think that's a bit further out west (for tonight, anyway).

We're fine here. I have a couple of friends in other parts of the state who had near-misses with tornadoes in their area.
