  • Medical school graduation gifts?

Is it standard to send money for medical school graduation gifts? We've received an annoucement for DH's office partners' DD's medical school graduation. We will be unable to attend the ceremony. What are we obliged to send?

    TIA

You are obligated only to send your best wishes in a nice card. If you feel obliged, you can send whatever you'd like.

DH received money, gift certs for men's clothing stores (so he could get nice shirts/ties), sterling silver monogrammed cuff links (from me) and I gave myself some black leather cutout high heels to wear to graduation.

Since it is the dd of a partner I would get her something. Likely a nice card and cash

I was actually very surprised at all the money DH received this weekend at his graduation. But it was from mostly family at his party. We sent announcements out to family acquaintances and are not expecting a card or money. It was really just so they know we finally made it. But I probably would give a card and money if it were me.

If the child was a child of one of our friends from residency, his colleagues now or any superior, I'd probably give a card and cash. If it was the random acquaintance or friend of my parents kind of thing I'd send a card.
