  • Antique's Roadshow

I got two tickets to AR in DC in August! We've always joked around about what we would take and then we'll find out that it's all worthless! But- we (my mom and I) get to take two things, each. You have to be able to move it around- the rules say that the AR staff cannot help you at all.

We're trying to figure out what we want to take. The DC convention center is maybe a 7 minute drive from my DC house so we can make that our staging area. We have a vase that was my great-grandmothers- we're assuming it's not worth much but would love to learn more about it anyway. We also have a belt that was my other great-grandmothers that she was given by a Native American family when they lived in Canada. Other than that- we're not sure.

I'm so excited though- I'm sure AR in DC is going to be really interesting- there's a lot of African-American history in that part of the country and there are of course all of the politicians that have been through there- plus all of the crazy things that have happened in DC. I think it'll be fun just to be a spectator and to see what everyone else has brought.

Too cool! Just don't be the people that restored the chair that WAS worth 25 K and is now worth maybe.....200 dollars. I can't wait to hear what happens.

How neat! That was one of my favorite things to watch when I was in elementary school, oddly enough. Is it on OETA?

                    Fun!

I hope you find out a lot of interesting things about the stuff you're taking. And maybe you can even quit your day job! Of course, I know you love your job, but how cool would it be to be a fly on the wall and watch you get weak in the knees when they announce that you're basically holding a down payment in your hands?!

I love that show. I think it's so great when someone has something that was passed down in the family or they bought at a flea market that turns out to be worth thousands. Of course when my husband tries to force me to watch golf with him my response is usually, "fine, I'll watch it, if you sit and watch Antiques Roadshow with me tonight" and that usually ends the debate. He's not a fan.

                      Good luck there!

                          AWESOME!!!

Dh always cracks up when we watch that show because I'm always like, "SELL IT, who cares if it's been in your family for 100 years..."

My only advice, as someone who used to live a block from the convention center, is that if you are driving, get there super early. NOT a good parking situation.

Anyway, have a great time, and be sure to let us know if you end up on TV!

I'm hoping that whatever mom decides we should bring are small enough that we can just walk over.

You know I'll be posting that day- regardless of whether they laugh us out of the building or we have our own TV moment.
