Question: What are you getting the men in your life for Father's Day as gifts?
Additionally, if you don't have children and aren't pregnant yet, do you still get your husband a Father's Day gift? Not really sure on protocol for that one...

    Thx!

I haven't thought of what to get my husband as a father's day gift yet. Hmm what did he get ME for Mother's Day? Oh right, nothing. I think we will get our fathers portable electronics batteries that will charge phones and ipods and things for days while they don't have access to electricity. They are both hunters and fishermen.

As to your second question. No. Until a man is a father, or maybe a father-to-be (stretching it), he doesn't get Father's Day gifts.

I ordered DH this really cool, expensive leather and metal bracelet from Red Envelope that says "Dad" on one side and has the word "Father" on the other side written in Sanskrit (he's Indian-American, I thought he would dig it).

Of course on Mother's Day I got a $10 bouquet of flowers from the supermarket, with no card.

And I agree, my opinion is you don't get a Father's Day gift until you're a father or father-to-be.

I think it would be sort of creepy to get my non-father husband a father's day gift.

My dad is getting a new book of essays from John McPhee (Silk Parachute), and maybe something else. If I think of something else.

DH is getting a gift. He surprised me with a m-day gift (from the dogs) and said I was a great "mom" - so, yes, I am getting him something - don't know what though. As far as "protocol" - I do not think there is any. I know DH shows far better "dad/father" qualities towards our dogs than either of our fathers ever have towards us.......combined!!
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

Trying to decide what to do. I attempted to make BabyK's handprint on tiny canvasas for DrK and FIL. But the ink won't dry and it's hard to get a baby to flatten his hand on the canvas.

I did this last year using fingerpaint. I painted Sophie's foot and then held it to the canvas. One of them got a bit smudged, but it was cute.

I'm "helping" Oliver make a coffee cup for my SIL. We made one for Amy for Mother's Day. It is a Starbucks travel mug with a removable liner that we can decorate with pictures, etc. They have links to Snapfish that upload your photos, etc. Alot of fun.

DH is really hard to buy for. Since he only got a card (really pretty one) and NO gift my frist mother's day.... I'm not giong all out for him. I bought a hallmark card that I can put pictures in. I think I'll put all pics of him holding the baby.

I always think some wise person planned it so that Mother's Day comes first.

I got nada for Mother's Day but I'm not going to stoop to that, I'm also not going to go out of my way to spend a lot of money or time on it. So he's getting two notepads with pictures of the kids on them. My dad and his dad will each get a card from the grandkids and my dad will get one from me, his dad will get one from him if he buys him one.
