  • So...

Just moved to Southern Cali.. Hubby had to go back to NorCal to deal with some school issues, he will be back tomorrow evening. He starts rotations on Monday. Peds.. His family lives about 35 minutes away, but my MIL and are well.. lets just say we aren't friends. We have already had a clash and I have lived here 6 days.

I am the mother of a 19th month old and I am pregnant with our second child. and.. I am feeling very alone at this moment. I know this is part and parcel, but it does not make it any easier..

Cheryl, I'm so sorry. There are many on here that will share the MIL issues with you. Big big hugs, I hope hubby gets back soon!

I hope the MIL will respect your boundaries, and I hope you start to feel settled soon.

Relocating is so hard, especially with little ones that keep you at home on naps schedules, melt downs, etc. I know you just got there, but have you looked into any Mom groups on your area. It would be great to get out of the house and learn more about what the area has to offer young families. Indoor play areas, toddler parks and library story times are another great way to meet other young moms in the community.

          Good luck!

My little is doing remarkably well, I think. A little whiny and clingy but on the whole great. I started looking for Mom's groups before I got here, so far have found none. We went to a church on Sunday and they have a Mom's group that meets on Tuesday (they did not meet this Tuesday) but I am planning on going to that. I also found the local library yesterday and the local park, there was no one there, but they had swings that were perfect for L.

Thanks for the input. It helps!!

Keep plugging away. You'll connect with someone, but it does take a lot of time. Summers are always a little crazy with vacations and older sibs being out of school so don't give up. Everyone settles back into routines in the fall. What about some Mommy and me swimming classes at the YMCA or community pool? The mom group at the church should be able to give you all the seasonal mommy migration patterns for your area.

Glad to see you back online!

Sorry about the MIL issues. MrsK has the best idea, she makes a game out of it, and we all play!!!!! Check out some of her posts.

Welcome back! It's hard when you move with child- we knew people here when we moved back with the dude but it still took a while for us to find people we clicked w/.

I'm so sorry. When we first moved to Baltimore 9 months ago, I know I felt really alone for the first couple months, especially with the hubby so busy with school. I know it must be even harder with a baby and another on the way... hang in there, things will get better!

This is true, mom's groups change a bit during the summer. Here is a link http://www.momsclub.org/links.html#California of MOMS clubs in California (there is over 100 different chapters), you should be able to find a group there. Also many co-op preschools have toddler programs a few days a week. Might be something worth checking out once baby arrives. You have to help out in the classroom but it allows you some time away and helps build a wonderful social network for yourself. Here is the link for the council of parent participation nursery schools. http://www.ccppns.org/index.php
