Boston Med anyone?

Anyone else watching Boston Med on ABC? I think last night might have been the 1st episode. We are especially interested since DH will be working at one of those hospitals in the next week. I am always curious how they decide who to follow in those shows. Should be interesting enough but also looks very similar to that Med reality show from last year...I think it was Hopkins.

My cousin was involved in pitching a similar story to TLC based at the University of Chicago. They always look for attractive, articulate, good on camera, and of course, some kind of "grab ya" story line. As for where they shoot, it's more about which hospital will let them have access than anything.

I think you'll find most people on here can't stand these reality/documentary style hospital shows. As for me- Can't Get Enough! haha! I saw an interview on GMA with one of the doctors (ER, I think) and was really excited about it. I'm bummed I missed it yesterday. I hope I can see it online this weekend.

I usually love these kinds of shows. I taped it and plan to watch this weekend.

I definitely take them for what they are....dramatic entertainment! But this is coming from someone who likes their fair share of reality t.v.

They always focus on ED and some surgery specialty in these shows... I guess giving radiation to cancer patients doesn't make for good tv.

Regardless, DW empathisized with the female emergency doc...always feeling inadequate and second guessing yourself due to lack of confidence and constant negative feedback from attendings.

Don't know if I will watch. If it's there and nothing better is on then maybe....kind of like watching a trainwreck sort of speak. I watched the Houston one because we knew several of the people there and DH was on the peds group they were following. You are right about the dramatic spin on these shows. They also followed our animal assisted therapy group one day but I guess there was not enough drama there (except for when one of the dogs found the big furry microphone too tempting and jumped up to try to take a chew) so we ended up on the cutting room floor.
