  • The Greatest Weekend Ever, EVER

I cannot even begin to tell you all how much I'm looking forward to this weekend. It is SO good that even the presence of the spouse would only make it like 10% better.

First: First Thursday at one of the neighbors

Second: Friday Night: Casbeers at the Church www.casbeers.com to see the In and Out-Laws www.myspace.com/inoutlaws play. We are really good friends with one of the guys in the band who also happens to be a neighbor, a poker buddy AND bi-lingual teacher, hopefully soon at my son's school. or venture out of the hood for slabcinema (free movies outdoors at various locations by our neighbors) www.slabcinema.com

Third: World Cup soccer at the Beethoven www.beethovenmaennerchor.com at 9am on Saturday. German "Breakfast Tacos" included- apparently brats and eggs in tortilla. Only in San Antonio.

Fourth: Afternoon at the Friendly Spot with the neighbors.www.thefriendlyspot.com

Fifth: 4th of July Pontoon Boat at Canyon Lake with several of the neighbors at one of the neighbor's parents' place. www.canyonlakeguide.com

Sixth: Monday: Hang out by the pool and nap

Seventh: Sadly and exhaustedly go back to work on Tuesday

and I have an entire playlist set up for the 4th of July based on my dad waking us up every single 4th of July with the 1812 Overture at volume 11. It's the greatest playlist of patriotic and American music EVER. and yes, I included the 1812...and if I had a canon I'd sooooo be doing live canon fire.

I LOVE that piece...it was always a dream of mine to have my bridesmaids fired out of canons over me as I walked down the aisle to its climax. Sadly, the Catholic Church frowns on these things...

Ummm...I want tag along with you. What a great holiday! I really miss the 4th of July in the south. It was always one of my favorite holidays when I lived in Texas. July 4th weather is still dicey up here so people don't make big plans or invest in big outdoor concerts. My dad used to play the 1812 every July 4th too. The Austin symphany ended their annual Town Lake July 4th concert with the 1812 and real canons which would que the firework show.

Have so much fun. Drink a margarita for me.

Sounds so fun! We just have our anniversary dinner on the 4th, followed by shooting fireworks off at my brother's house (he's in the country).

                  Nice.

I love the 1812 Overture too, but you all know it really has nothing to do with America, right?

I watch 1776 every year on the 4th. And I am also looking forward to fireworks on both the 3rd and the 4th, with a free symphony concert to accompany on the 3rd. Now if only my husband didn't have to work through my entire three day weekend.

The 4th in AZ is mostly about trying not to die of heat exhaustion.

Sounds like fun Jenn! (And Rick is home? Even better!)

We are fleeing to Canada for the weekend which hardly feels patriotic. However, that's where my mom is this weekend and we are visiting while she's within a few hours drive. Since the fourth is also my son's birthday, we are going to try to pull off making a trip to visit Grandma fun for a fourteen year old. I'm thinking lots and lots of junk food? We'll also be parked somewhere on Saturday AM watching the soccer game....so my mom better get with the program fast. World Cup fever is a serious illness.
