  • Unclaimed Money

I read about this website called http://www.missingmoney.com/ that searches a database of unclaimed assets like credits from electric companies or forgotten bank accounts.

I had my parents search it and they found $50. My in-laws searched it and found $200 from AT&T and possibly an entire account my MIL said she thinks they lost track of.

You can also use this website to link to the specific state's websites (not all seem to have them yet, though)--they tend to be a little more thorough

I hope someone finds something big!

I used one of these unclaimed funds websites last year (although I don't remember which one specifically) and found $97 in unclaimed funds from the state. I called the gov't agency, filled out the forms, and got the money within a couple of months. So it's definitely worth checking it out from time to time just in case...

Unless you have to mail in the paperwork to get the big payoff! Then you'll spend that in stamps!
