  • Anyone in SoCal?

My SIL just called to tell me that they're evacuating my MILs neighborhood because of a wildfire. 70 years in LA and she's never been evacuated until now.

I can't find any fabulous detail unless I join the LA Times, etc. so if anyone is there and knows what's happening in the Antelope Valley/Palmdale area, can you let me know?

It's moving down toward Leona Valley (1500 more homes they'd need to evac), and as of 6am, has ZERO containment.
No power outages yet, but that area has some nice produce that could be lost/drive up the cost, depending on how large the production area is.
It's not windy here, but we have had some breezes, which means that containing it in a valley or canyon space is much harder, due to wind gusts.

Is your MIL okay? What about the house?

They were allowed to go in and get more stuff but they're still not allowed back in. You know the story where they talk about the fire jumping the aqueduct? She's probably less than 200 yards from the aqueduct. Keep me posted if you would- MSNBC and the Weather channel aren't that informative. My husband is getting calls from her, I guess she 'thinks' he's calling me - riiiight. He's a GUY.
