  • Last night of sleeping alone

Tonight is the last night my husband will sleep away from home! He's at the end of his last year of medicine residency and tonight is his very last night of call. I can't believe it! He has two years of fellowship left but swears he won't ever have to sleep away from home.

I can't believe we've made it to this point. The light at the end of the tunnel is getting closer. I just had to share!

      Jill-

I hear ya! My husband has three more call nights of residency. (Although he will be on call at the hospital during his first year of fellowship)

      I can't believe it's almost over!

        Congratulations!
I have to say, I don't miss overnight call one bit. My husband (a fellow) still has to go in sometimes in the middle of the night occasionally but it sure beats having to go almost two whole days without seeing him!
        Awake is the new sleep!

This will never end for us, since my husband is an OB -- but it sure was nice to end residency and know that his schedule will NEVER be that bad again! Congrats to all of you who are finishing this chapter in your lives. Celebrate!

                Thanks, all!

Now we are in the stage of getting used to each other again...I've noticed with him around it's harder to motivate to the gym. I am used to going when he is on call/at work. Once he starts fellowship in July we will have to get used to a new type of schedule. He swears it won't be too terrible but I have my doubts. Hopefully I will get to the gym more often once he's a bit busier. Right now he's on elective and is done everyday by 2 p.m. or so!
