Do you have one you like? Thanks. (This will be for DH, as a supplement to his desktop.)

I have not been a fan of the current net books that are out there. We tried to look for the same thing, and ended up not finding anything that was really a good product.

Honestly the way I would go is either : macbook or macbook pro: or iPad.

I say this for a few reasons: You can pay 200 dollars for a net book that runs an old operating system and can really only surf the internet and has little storage capabilities.

Or you can pay 900 dollars for a plan macbook or 1150 for macbook pro (have an amazing laptop that is light, thin, works perfectly every time out of the box) or pay 400 to 850 for an iPad that can do just about everything from surfing the web, email, file storage, ereader, etc.

But if you DH is looking at something that he can surf the internet on and be able to get document files and make files pertaining to work etc, then I would day that a macbook or macbook pro is the key. The ipad would work, but would not have the full capabilities as that macbooks and for close cost. Mind you the IPad can do most of these things but not real document creation (YET), you can view them, but not really make a Powerpoint or word doc, like the laptop can do. My SO needs those functions so the laptop was the sound choice for us.

I have to tell you, even if you have a PC you can still interface with the Mac, and having a MAC will change how you view computers.

Yeah, I have a Macbook. DH is decidedly not interested. Shrug.

Basically he wants something to surf the internet while watching tv. His desktop handles everything else. So I want to keep the price down (the desktop was expensive).

Well try the iPad. It will do all that and look fabulous while doing it!
