  • Our Cat does BIRD CALLS!

I'm not kidding. We have a special harness/leash for our cat so that he can go outside with us when we are playing/barbecuing, etc. So...today I let him explore the back where we have some big trees....and there were birds there. He crouched down really low and seriously made BIRD CALLS....as if he were trying to lure the birds to him or something. I nearly died...I couldn't beleive it.

    Is my cat normal?

Your cat is normal....or at least as normal as our kitty (who now lives with friends due to my allergies). She used to sit in our living room window and make this wierd, low, chattering type sound at the birds. I have heard that big hunting cats make a similar sound before attacking. You cat is getting in touch with its inner hunting kitty!

Sounds like you need to tape it and send it to America's Funniest Videos! Especially if it catches something!!

Well, this is just the funniest thing to me! I couldn't believe it when I heard it...and here I thought our little Lupey was unique 8) Well...I just may videotape it and send it off anyway...hey...you never know!

I should rephrase my response....I think it is normal but also a tad unusual. My husband had several cats while growing up and had never heard a cat make that sound. I think you should tape it too. We would crack up when she did it. Our kitty is such a special cat....I miss her!

(Especially right now since she used to sit on top of the monitor while I was on the computer).
