I think you could put Ophtho in the Rad section...I just found out that Russ even operates in a dark OR. Weird!

I've seen this before, but I don't get the Rad Onc one--DH's mom, who is one, didn't get it either.

Hate to be a wet blanket but psychiatrists are not real doctors? DrK has been tipped off to diabetes and malnutrition in patients by observing their lifestyles before their "real doctors" have gotten bloodwork done. For instance, the 350 lb guy that works at dunkin donuts and was being treated for depression mentioned that he eats mostly the leftovers that he brings home from work. He was malnurished. His "real doctor" totally flipped out when DrK suggested that they work the guy up for malnutrition. Likewise, DrK got a lightening quick first diagnosis of diabetes when the parents brought in a 14 yo who was acting bizzarly.

Mrs. K, I have worked with psychiatrists for 14 years. They most certainly ARE real doctors.

All of these could be seen as insulting. In a way, it kind of pinpoints the most annoying/irritating stereotypes from each profession. I'm sure radiologists get frustrated with people automatically/only thinking "money." I don't think DH is unsympathetic or quick to cut - just the opposite. But I know why the stereotype is there - and 72 hours on doesn't do much for a person's ability to sympathize. (Doggonit, where's that hour-reduction petition?) The psychiatry one is particularly lame, though, because it questions qualifications instead of personality traits. They could have come up with a better one for that.

Maybe that all their patients are dead? (Morbid, yes... don't shoot the messenger.)

Really this is just supposed to be a joke. It's not that serious, though the pysch one was stupid. I mean the cartoon is titled " Specialty Stereotypes."
