  • Oh, nonoononononononononono!!!

(Is this the right forum for child-rearing stuff?)

oh, nononononono...as I said before in the thread title.

MY FOUR-AND-A-HALF MONTH OLD IS CRAWLING. REALLY EFFECTIVELY, TOO!! Inch-worm crawling EVERYWHERE. And she's really fast and quiet, too!

OH, HELP!!!! This is terrible. WAY TOO EARLY FOR CRAWLING. Mobility = headaches for Mom.

My others did not crawl until way later. I think DD#2 just so desperately wants to be with her big sibs that she's made up her mind to be mobile. And she gets MAD AS HECK if she's cruelly "imprisoned" in a playpen, jumpy-thing, or any other sort of normal baby play area.

SHE CAN'T EVEN SIT UP WELL BY HERSELF. She's still at that "I can sit for a minute or two then I topple over and look like an overturned turtle" phase.

This weekend, I placed her on the carpet in the kids' bedroom, and she crawled out of the room, down the hall (and it's a long hall!), and UNDER MY BED. We couldn't find her. It wasn't until we heard her laughing at the dog that we finally located her.

Oh. my. gosh. Stop her! My send kid was walking at 10 months. It was awful! She was adorable -- looked like one of those walking babydolls -- but she was able to get into everything! She crawled at 5 months, made her way all the way upstairs at the in-laws' house at 6 months. Seriously. Stop her from being mobile so early. She's going to cause you to panic daily.

This part made me !!! I seriously think it's the older sibling thing. I have a friend that had a baby the same week as DD. She has two older kids. The baby started walking right when she turned 10 months. She was standing on her own at early 6 months old! God help ya, is all I've gotta say!

As a mother of a daughter who walked/ran at 8 months, you have my sympathies. Tie a brick to her foot!

Oh, that is completely unacceptable! hahaha!! What's with these early movers?? Isn't there a grace period that Mom is entitled to between the kid coming down the birth canal and coming through the doorways??

I have hope for you...I crawled at 4 months old, also. Because I was SO adept at crawling, I didn't walk until I was 15 months old. I did crawl into things on occasion though because my vision hadn't really kicked in completely yet.

As Peggy said, (good memory, girl!) my oldest crawled at this age. No older siblings.....just couldn't stand being in one place. It drove me nuts. He was like a tenacious little snake. I had baby gates everywhere, and swept/vacuumed a LOT. He didn't walk especially early, though....right at a year. Buckle up!

Yes yes yes!!! She does this! It had not occurred to me that this is a result of not having her vision at 100% yet. I guess I just thought she didn't have much common sense (or at least, that she had no appreciation of Newtonian physics!).

I am hoping this means she will not be an early walker. My other two were really early walkers, but did almost no crawling. Seriously, with the other two, it was a couple of days of crawling then..."Screw that! It hurts my knees!" and they were walking (albeit very unsteadily).
