Halloween

Halloween is approaching! This year we are dressing O up as Superman. I hate dressing up actually but maybe Dh will, also highly unlikely. I am taking O to an Halloween party hosted by a mommy website in SOHO on the 25th then on Halloween we will tour our building for treats, as well as hand some out. What are your plans?

I was hoping to head to my Auntie and Uncle's annual Halloween party, but they are moving this month so the party is kinda nix. But my at my office people are dressing up and having a small party during the work hours, so I will most likely participate. I love Halloween and dressing up is so fun. Usually in my family, the annual Halloween party is a big deal and family members spend half of the year planning out their costumes and spoky dish! I will probably be a Renn Wench...it's a costume I already have and i love wearing Renn Faire!

We shopped for costumes last weekend. The store had super creepy life-sized robotic zombies lurking, groaning, and reaching every where. They made me feel a little sick but BabyK thought they were hilarious. I kept turning him away and he would twist around in my arms so he could waive and laugh at the zombies. Guess we'll take him trick-or-treating since he's not afraid of zombies.

We are dressing BabyK up as a lion. I'm a leopard (not wearing a catsuit, just ears, tail, and probably my leopard-print dress). DrK wanted to be Batman but I talked him into dressing like he is on safari instead. I couldn't convince him to dress as Sigfried and/or Roy. . . but he'd dress as Batman. Go figure. Guess BabyK and I will have to be superheros next year.

Dude wants to be SpongeBob again- reusing last years costume.

I'm doing nothing except escorting the dude. I really don't get excited about Halloween.

Ryan is officially too old and cool for costumes this year. Lexi will exhaust another Disney character this year as
Princess Jasmine. I'm not dressing up. I might wear my "Muggle" t-shirt though.

I found an AWESOME terrible old prom or bridesmaids dress at goodwill that I will definitely be wearing! My husband just got a t-shirt that has doctor things like a stethescope around the neck and a pocket with a sucker and some other doodads in it. I think that will be funny.

As for the babe, I think I'm going to go for Baby Gaga. I'm going to hang baby toys all over her. If that fails, my plan B is ghost. lol This should be fun!

I have a butterfly and an octopus. (Butterfly was not my idea--apparently you only get two Halloweens before the kid starts picking their own costume.)

On the 23rd we're signed up for a park district "Old Fashioned Trick or Treat":

Trick-or-treat along candlelit paths to 20 historic buildings. Begin your journey on the trolley pulled by Percheron draft horses. Collect a variety of traditional treats and toys. Finish your celebration with cider, cookies and entertainment in the Town Hall.

I assume that on the 31st we'll trick-or-treat in the fancy neighborhood adjacent to our apartment complex. The houses are kind of far apart, so I think Cora won't last long but she will enjoy it.

DD decided to be a ladybug. DS, at the ripe old age of 2 decided that since DD would be "ladybug girl" (from the book), then he would have to be "bumblebee boy" to match. So, DD #2 will be a butterfly. It will be really cute, but I was totally out of the loop on getting to chose, and my kids are all under age 5.

The White Coat Ceremony is Halloween weekend and the in-laws are coming up, so not sure we are doing anything. One of the other med spouses might have a costume party next weekend, though, so I think I might steal the anatomy lab scrubs (brave, I know), put some blood and fake cuts on DH, and go as Doctor M and her first patient.

Ahhh, I love dressing up for Halloween!! Last year we dressed ourselves up as puppet babies...I think this requires a picture to really describe it. This year, though, we will be away on Halloween weekend going to our first interview for residency!! Very excited for the interview and a weekend away with DH. I guess dressing up will have to wait another year for us.

I'm Storm from X-Men. I dressed up last night with my Moms group. The older kid is Spider-man and the little kid is a doctor.

My oldest also wore the octopus costume on her first Halloween, so it can be seen here. In general my plan is to NOT have my youngest wear only hand-me-down costumes, but the octopus is near and dear to our hearts--my husband collected octopi-themed things since long before he met me.
