  • Moonlighting on XMas?

My DH is on-call the 23rd, so he will be post-call on XMas Eve. We aren't going anywhere (since the tickets are sky high, we have no vacation, and I want to space out my TSA fondlings) and he asked this morning if I was okay with him moonlighting XMas day. Last year, he worked XMas, so I feel like it's just a continuation -- however, this year it would be a choice. The pros are pretty appealing though: instead of the regular $75 an hour, it's $90. And he would be working 8 hours. And we could use the money for another state license/Mr. Bean stuff/relocating expenses in July.

I'd let him do it, but that's just me. (I never minded when DH had to work on holidays as a resident, because it meant that he got double pay!)

I'd say go for it- the money will help and it better that he be around NEXT Christmas than this.

DH is moonlighting on both Thanksgiving and Christmas and I'm totally cool with it. Doesn't hurt that they make triple time on holidays.

DH is prohibited from moonlighting, but if he were allowed, I would MAKE him do it for that money!

The extra moolah from moonlighting entirely rocks. DH can make the house payment in two shifts.

DH's hospital pays more for holidays because they have so few peeps moonlighting. Out of the 16 residents capable of moonlighting, only 7 or 8 do.

This! Especially if it's only an 8 hour shift - you'd still have some time to hang on Christmas.

In this case, since he should be home and awake for some of Xmas eve, and it's only an 8 hour shift....I say go for it too.

Thanks everyone! I told him I wanted to think it over, and of course, ask the boards.
